you asked for it (well a few of you did....)

hey there! i don't generally posts outfits but funnily (never sure how that's really a word) enough i have been asked a few times before and a few more lately. the other day a sweet friend told me that i had inspired her when i did thirty threads and every once in awhile i should post an outfit.
so here goes.

oh, please remember this is not a fashion blog and i don't pretend to have any fashionista qualities or think anyone should follow my trends. let's face it if you did, or you were to see me right now as i post this, you would be wearing yoga pants and a tank top, no shoes and a dirty bun. move it carrie bradshaw, you gots competition girl!!

im into brights lately which is working out well since our seasons are a mess (a mess i tell ya!!) here in southern cal its 3 digits most of this week (dont tell fall because as you know i am really trying over here but yay for 3 digits and my summa lovin'!) so yesterday i went with this.

here is the story: (you thought i wouldn't give a story??? oh silly silly reader!)

my biggest little always needs something at the mall.
always. like, never fails always.
macy's was having a huge sale and i had looked most of summer for a pair of orange jeans but never found orange, not even an ugly color of orange, just no orange at all.

as we were searching for her "must have to go with my maxi skirt mooooooom" black tee we both spotted my orange pants right in front of us, hanging on a sale rack in all it's mango glory!!

ahhhhhh-that is the sound of the heaven opening up and angels and horns and birds and rays of sun.

wahhhh wahhhhhh. that is the sound when you look at the tag and it's 2 sizes too big. don't even put it past me that i didn't think i could just go home and continue this baking kick and fit into them in 2 weeks. it was a bummer of a moment. man, stuff crashes hard sometimes right?!
anyway, back to the black tee- which she found- oh yay for you and your awesome luck. psshhhht.

ahhhhhhhhh. yep, that's that angel, horn, bird, sun sound again!!! wouldn't ya know that over on the counter folded (okay, off to the side enough that i probably should of asked if they were on hold for someone) were MY orange pants. in MY size. touch em and i will drop kick you like hulk hogan during a rock and wresting match!!
i didn't even try them on mainly for fear that they belonged to someone and i would get called out. i quickly took them to the closest open register and bam! twenty fo dolla's later! can you believe these were marked down from almost $100 bucks to $24?
come on now macy's stop playin'!!

im really into rose gold right now, id be really into a watch that had the correct date. hmmm...who knew september had 31 days??

now, to tell you the story of the shirt.... just kidding, you can go now. i'm sure i have enlightened you enough already today. ya really sure you still want me to post outfits???

have a bright day all y'all!

pants: macy's
shirt: zara

wahhh, i gotta start making school lunches again!!

here it is, the first day of school.

i got my sad face painted on.
we were given a very short summer this year but i am really trying to look at the
good and positives over here.

here's what i got:

-although it is august 14th which is dead summer to us-my littles will not only get out of school on may 31st but we will get a week off at thanksgiving leaving masses amount of time to make paper turkeys in the shapes of our hands. oh, i can hardly wait. blah.

-with my littles back in school i wont have to sit at work and wonder what they are eating for lunch. i am well aware that my littlest little probably dips popsicles in the sugar jar and calls it lunch.

-when my littles arrive home from school i will know that the dirt (and god knows what else) on their faces and/or hands came from school and its straight to the bathroom to wash up.
this saves me a huge amount of time wondering where in my home have they tracked this mystery germiness.

-when that first sigh and whine of, 'im booooored' occurs i have a spectacular answer: "go do your homework and please don't tell me you have none".

-with them not getting home until 4pm. there is less time for "loaching."
loach is my made up word used solely for my middle little.
my definition of loach: a 14 year old that spends his days in the same clothes he sleeps in, laying on sofa with one leg on actual sofa and other leg either hanging off the side or lounged over the back end of sofa. this is a tricky position but trust that it can be done for hours, upon hours, upon hours........

-we live very close to a middle school so our cat will go back to his attention-whoring with all the school kids on the corner and quit being so needy at home. this is a real problem at our house but not as much of a problem as when the school calls and tells me my cat is at school (again) and won't leave.

-because it is a million degrees in the valley i didn't have to spend too much money on back to school clothes as they are wearing mostly shorts however, if you saw my staples receipt you will see that clearly, i have spent the money either way.......hmmm, maybe this does not belong on my positives list after all.....

-again, although it may feel like summer, look like summer, smell like summer and be 105 in the valley, we will start to train our brains to think fall.
this means no more nightly ice cream cones. basically yours truly's booty will start to shrink back to normal sizing and we will crinkle up our summer rules paper, throw it to the ground and probably spit on it for good measure. it's the only way to truly transition and not look back otherwise rules will be broken and we know i am NO rule breaker.... (insert the face of a huge liar).

I will miss our summer moments and don't even have anything poetic to wrap up with because i don't like summer being over. i know it sounds bratty but i don't like it.

i will miss our long summer walks full of discoveries

playing with good friends who know us better than anyone

visiting family that you love so dearly

doing things that we maybe weren't so sure of

froggy hunting
bbq's with a hawaiian bartender

signs on doors that alert your sisters you're kinda done with their hormonal craziness

our lunch dates

more bike rides than a mom can count

not pictured:

many melting ice cream cones
swimsuits a plenty
naps on the sofa, on the floor, in the car
dress up parties just because
flea market sundays
rollin 5 deep through airports

aloha friday

Aloha Friday
(Aloha Friday)

Definition: much like the casual Friday equivalent, it refers to the day of the week where the feeling is one of laid-back happiness and leisure, looking forward to the weekend. Often, businesses in Hawaii allow their employees to dress casually on this day.

Used In A Sentence: It’s Aloha Friday cuz! Where you like go dis weekend?
In English?: I can’t believe it’s Friday already! What do you feel like doing this weekend?

just in case ya didn't know......

so, let me sum up in 3 words (well, 4) why this week was awesome.
1. summer
2. mexico
3. true blood

love/hate

today i am linking up with a really fun girl noel (don't know how to add the umlaut over her "e") on her love/hate link up!

as a new blogger i have been hopping around exploring other fun blogs and noel's got my attention right away.
maybe it was these cool pink glasses she wears in one of her pics, or the fact that she married her high school crush (that's my girl!!) actually it could be that she has 4 kids (i feel like such a quitter with only 3) and they live in an 800 square foot cabin and they are all still alive and seem to like each other?? oh, i bet it's that she can grab buttons for her blog and i can't-really, i am that lame. i can't figure it out. yes, i have watched tutorials and read instructions but it never works for me!

i dunno. i do know she has a supa' fun blog and i am inspired by her. you will be too! soooooo, once you are done reading my fabulous love/hates hop on over to read hers, see her fun pics and check out her corner of the world today.

remember that thirty threads hoo-ha?

i finished thirty threads quite some time ago. on my own i decided to keep it going for a few more weeks beyond the thirty days without the posts just kind of my own lil experiment. oh no silly people, i shopped, but continued to mix in stuff that hasn't left my dresser drawers or closet in years.

like friday- this skirt hadn't been worn in at least a year or so but i love it so i could never get rid of it. truth be told its kinda funky coz you are suppose to wear it off the hips but that makes me feel dumpy and strangely shaped- i guess mostly what i feel is i'm not in my twenties anymore so i have no biz-ness wearing low slung anything.....

i realized that i gotta do a summer version of thirty threads mainly because i have been asked and you know i like to give the people what they want.
i'm kidding. truthfully it reminds me to wear what i have, reinvent new outfits and to get creative by shopping in my very own (pretty full) closet. plus, i usually end up looking much better than i normally would have because i am being cognisant of what i got goin' on before i walk out the door. know what i mean?

i actually think the summer version may even be way easier than the last one. i'm gonna try to not wear things from my last thirty threads (try-no pinky promises here) just to keep it creative and harder for me. plus, since we are going on a few vacays this summer and a couple of long week-ends this will be awesome on my wallet.

thirty threads changed the way i get dressed and the way i look at what i already have. i suggest it to every girl i know and because i'm generous-to every girl i don't know.

so i'm thinking of starting maybe beginning of july-now, who wants to join me? it can be like a group fit challenge but i don't make anyone work out and we can eat whatever we want? ya in???

tres tray chic

i love maps. not that i can read them. i use to dream of shane and i being on amazing race (because i love to travel and think it might be a fun gig to win a million dollars) but i can't be the map reader (fo' sho') and wouldn't be the be the best option as the driver. i can't (won't) do the bungee stuff and oh yeah, i can't (really i can't)eat strange foreign "cuisines" sooo basically shane would be running the race all by himself. oh, of course i would be there-like next to him-but i bet i wouldn't even be holding my own backpack. that shane. he's kind of a bro.
*poof* there goes my dream just like that. cruel cruel world....

back to maps.

i wish i had the home that i could frame maps. old, new, large, small torn-whatever and hang them in my grand master hall. i would make it look fabulous-no doubt. somewhere in a home far far away there is a large open wall in a huge grand master hall waiting for me and my surely magnificant map gallery but until then....

can i truly even call this a craft project? project would probably imply that it takes time and is some sort of planned enterprise with design and layout. this isn't that. lets call this cut and paste 101. its easy and fast and you know what i always say....a trained monkey on pbs can do this. annnnd i believe i just referred to myself as a primate.

1. i picked up this tray for $6 and was drawn to the shape of it-wish it was larger but for 6 bucks its pretty great.

2. take your map (i picked this one because its literally of my hood) lay it out and trace your shape out.

3. glue the map to the bottom, take a razor to trim any overlapping edges and mod podge the heck outta the top of it.

check it out! sherman oaks-i can practically see my house!

i think im gonna take some old trays i have that i dont love and do some more for summer.
